While I’m glad to see Mr. Magoo go, I’m not real happy about the new guy either. Rep. Spencer Bachus (R. Ala.,) recently said,
“In Washington, the view is that the banks are to be regulated, and my view is that Washington and the regulators are there to serve the banks.”
Bachus went on to clarify that regulators should set the bounds in which banks can operate but shouldn’t be overzealous.
Controversial from the start, time will tell if Bachus represents Washingtonian thinking as usual.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
-- Thomas Jefferson
