about the blog

Chronicles of Delusion attempts to chronicle and comment upon the stupidity of American politics.  I try not to take a party line but rather an intelligent everyman look at what is going on around us.  At times sarcastic, at times heady, but never quite trusting the politicians have our best interests in mind.

My politics are based on many premises that are, at times, as defined as spaghetti, but foremost is my firm conviction that people in groups are idiots.  If you disagree please return to the herd.  To me the “herd” is composed of people willing to suck down whatever they are told by the media and they make tasty sustenance for political candidates.

Another of my fundamental beliefs is that everyone has a fundamental right to an opinion and to express that opinion, even if the person happens to be an idiot.  I sometimes wish they would keep to themselves but I respect their right to idiocy.  My final clearly defined political premise is, that for the most part being wrong doesn’t equate to being evil.  In American politics today, it has become chic to demonize anyone holding an opposing opinion.  Republicans view Hillary Clinton as an icon of pure evil while Democrats characterize Dick Cheney as Satan in the flesh.  Now, we all can agree Nancy Pelosi is evil, but aside from that, such characterizations I call “American Idiocy.”

I have a few more premises but they are in constant flux as I evolve.  If you are looking for a political prophet perhaps you should keep looking, but if you are looking for a slightly different conservative viewpoint that tries to filter out the hate but not the truth, then please engage me.

I am VERY interested in the opinions of others who can articulate as opposed to insult.  I want to hear from you!  Let’s dialogue.  Feel free to differ with me, but try to resist the second grade impulse to name-call.  Doing so dismisses any point you wanted to make.

so is all this hubris affecting democracy in the U.S.? Is our democratic way of life threatened or are we ok? I worry that both parties are hurting our county and democracy itself.

    • I’m not sure if you are referring to my hubris or theirs. But seriously, I feel the greatest threat to our democracy comes from the massive debt being accumulated by federal, state, and local governments. The massive drain of jobs to the third world and our exploitation of those laborers contributes to that debt and threatens to destabilize the social order in the coming years. So to answer your question, yes I believe the lack of foresight and patriotic long-view of resource allocation by both political parties as well as individual business executives and investors is a serious threat not only to our democracy but our standard of living.
